Art Vs Science in Business |
|
Page 1 of 2 One of the things I am a big promoter of is the use of systems, which are effectively scientific methods of accelerating the growth of a business using a proven path. However there is another side to business which is a gut feeling or art form if you like.
It’s the side of you that feels like its stabbing around in the dark during the early days of a business startup, finding unreachable answers to sometimes unknown questions. And the same part of you that looms out of the darkness when faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges and problems.
Yes, there is art in business and it’s not all science. So, does that mean you need to have a special talent or a totally unique idea to have a growing business? I don’t think so, the artistic phase or the stage of creation requires patience and selectivity. Patience to learn about the market that interests you and to discover problems that need solving or opportunities untapped and selectivity to recognize the truth of opportunity and to stack the cards or odds in your favor.Where you start and what you will find know body know but all paths walked lead somewhere.
One thing I have found very useful is building probability tools that help me to asses a situation. The mind unfortunately will interfere with objectivity (distorting the truth) in many cases as a result of fear, greed, guilt or any of the other emotional characters we all harbor, instantly taking over and making decision on our behalf. Without objectivity your ship will quickly run aground. Learning these market factors is best done by looking at the past and what is happening along with an eye on the future.
