Cocaine, Pop Music and Law - Your keys to cooking up a tastey bite in the business battle zone

Boy Geroge the former lead signer of pop
group Culture Club was rapidly escorted from court to a vehicle ready
to whisk him away to a safe haven and it struck me that there are some
similarities between the ups and downs in business and those that Boy
George himself now faces.

In fact like the band name all of us in business are creating our
own culture clubs. Our experiences and circumstances shape who and what
we are and the way we deal with the world outside. The way we act,
dress, the words we choose are in a sense the trade marks of our own
groups. Its all about people.

Fans related to Culture Clubs music because the lyrics were about
problems and issues that many have faced and were facing at that time.
Its true, that in business, people relate to people much more when they
are open about who and what they are and the problems and solutions
they face and find along their journeys. We are all human at the end of
the day.

Boy George also stood for many things and was himself outspoken
against the growing use of drugs such as cocaine, which continues to be
consumed in increasing demand.

After his meteoric rise though, a slippery slope appears to face Boy
George as he peers over the edge of his rocking pedestal. Cocaine has
now taken control and a change in character and belief for the worse
seems to be breaking through. The very culture he sought to build is
now crumbling beneath him. When you mix the wrong ingredients into your
cultural mix, bad things happen.

Its important in business that we understand what it is we stand for
and that our culture, which is a reflection of who we are on the inside
and what we are on the outside continues to grow. Bring in the wrong
ingredients whether they be people or technology and it can bring about
the fall of the ascended and rising star.

Like law there are rules or principals in business that you must
stick to if you are going to stay on the right track and maintain a
growing connection with your audience. Break that and loose your
credibility and your audiences support.

Think of your business as a chef would do his menu. Its all in the
ingredients and the way you mix them up and cultivate them. Staple
ingredients give it foundation and spices and herbs give its flavor and
zing,

Know your audience and the ingredients they love, deliver it in a way that is enjoyable and keep them coming back for more.
